From Rome: trains [http://www.trenitalia.com] almost every hour, mostly departing from Roma Ostiense station (go and return for 10 €). The trip takes about 2 hours.
From Rome take the ring road of GRA to the Cassia bis exit and follow this road to Viterbo. An alternative, but longer route, is to take the A1 motorway (from Rome follow the signs towards [wiki=bbf5e1be3178100ef6a81c2e4ba0304e]Firenze[/wiki], and exit at Orte. Then take the S204 towards Viterbo (about 3 € tolls from Rome).
It´s not really comfortable to drive inside the historical centre, as all the streets are quite narrow and "one way". Better to park your car out of the town walls.
